Well, after all the issues I’ve been having with my powerbook, I’m more than ready to upgrade:

  • snapped hinges = $400 to fix
  • bent frames means problems with the optical drive
  • charger/adapter issues
  • and, now, screen issues…seems like my backlight is burned out but since it randomly comes on, I’m guessing it is the video card???

The New Apple Laptops sound great but I’m a little weary of being an early adopter again (see above). Many of the problems I had have been documented and fixed in subsequent models. I’m not sure if I should go ahead and get the new one or wait until they iron out the kinks (and deal with no screen by plugging into external monitors). :-(
